Unity is older than her definition
Doubt me?!
Question the Gold Coast:
In divided togetherness --
My people-Your people-Our people, O'! Ghana --
converged on a fertile land_
As this is it we dwell
from lands further than the age long compasses of history read.
They dividedly lived in coherence;
Cultured in divergence;
Chorused war songs with tolerance;
for the safety of their opponents' existence as humans
(Which oppressed cared for the oppressor if not our fore fathers)
Yet, they fought without reserve
for what we call our independence
Years and years down the dusty throats of history.
My people-Your people-Our people,
years back had a sense
of an immense pure direction
For what their successors -- You and I
will say about their efforts.
Alas --
here we are without much to hold up_
Not even their legacies
Awoo! - Awoo! - Awoo!
My people
Have we no gratitude --
even the slightest
For the toil of our fore fathers
And what they left for us?
Nay! Say not a say!
For if we'd
Gold Coast did flood
with the gold and milk
of regal antiquity
From the coast to the savanahs
And still gush with pride
My people!
Dabuo et Kwame
Tighten your togas
We have a fight to win
against the mistakes of our predecessors.
With no fear or favour. Bricks of the bright future ahead. 🙏
